Making the Transition from Resin Newbie to Epoxy Pro
Using Pro Marine Supplies Epoxy is easy, but you do have to follow instructions!
First of all, Epoxy comes in two steps: Epoxy and Epoxy Hardener. When both of these products are mixed, the chemical reaction causes the mixture to cure. When the process is done improperly, the result is a project that does not harden properly.
# 1 Mistake – Not Measuring Accurately
Pro Marine supplies Epoxy should be mixed with a 1:1 ratio. If your parts are unequal or mis-measured, the final project will not cure and will result in a “sticky” feeling.

# 2 Mistake – Not Mixing Thoroughly
Once you’ve measured your epoxy and epoxy hardener, it’s important to make sure that both parts are mixed thoroughly. It’s important to remember that the products cannot catalyze properly if they are not mixed well. You should do this by mixing vigorously for three to four minutes, being sure to scrape the bottom and sides of your container at the same time.
The best way to mix your epoxy is by using a paint paddle.
# 3 Mistake – Working in a cold room
Pro Marine Supplies Epoxy will be completely cured by 72 hours. It is recommended that during that time that you keep the temperature as close to 75 degrees as possible, never go under 75 degrees. If you are having issues maintaining a constant temperature, it is ok to go over 75 Degrees (Up to 90 degrees).
